Once you’ve gotten over the fact that Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus is naked on the cover of Rolling Stone with the Constitution digitally tattooed on her back, you may notice a tiny error if you’re a true history buff. John Hancock’s signature is included. Hancock, who signed the Declaration of Independence, did not sign the Constitution.
To clear up the issue, Dreyfus decided to get into character as Vice President Selina Meyer and took to Twitter to blame the mistake on her incompetent communications director, Mike McLintock, played by Matt Walsh.
“Hancock signed Dec. of Independence NOT Constitution. Yet another Mike f—k-up.Dummy.#veep.#crackexcuse @VeepHBO @mrmattwalsh [email protected],” she tweeted. A Rolling Stone spokeswoman joked to reporters that the Declaration of Independence tattoo was on the actress’ other side, and the Hancock signature simply wouldn’t fit.
