Lawrence Kaplan, son of Edward and Selma, passed away on Nov. 18. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Candace, and his two devoted children, Jonathan Kaplan (Doris Chang) and Sarah Kaplan Groves (Nick). He also leaves behind his treasured grandsons, Eli and Reed Kaplan, and many close friends and family. Lawrence was born and lived in his favorite city, Chicago, and left at 16 to go to Drake University, in Des Moines, Iowa. He served in the United States Army, and was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. He worked for B’nai B’rith International for more than 25 years, and before his retirement as the national director of the members’ insurance program. He served as executive vice president of Kaplan Financial Group for more than 20 years. Funeral services were held Nov. 20 at Judean Memorial Gardens Chapel in Olney. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish Social Service Agency in Rockville.
