Give bigotry in House no sanction
Three recent letters in WJW (“Whose party needs cleaning?” June 6; “Some welcome!” June 6; and my own “President John Adams was no wishy-washy Democrat,” April 18) make one thing emphatically clear: It is time for WJW and the American Jewish community in general to strongly condemn Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (Md.) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) for acting as apologists for Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and their anti-Semitic, anti-Israel agenda.
It is time to forge a united front in the Jewish community to demand that Pelosi and Hoyer remove these bigots from their seats on crucial House committees Let us heed the words of George Washington, the first president of the United States: “To bigotry no sanction.”
The source of this bigotry lies in the dogma of radical Islam. According to Daniel Pipes, founder of Middle East Forum, “Radical Islam is the problem; moderate Islam is the solution.” For the sake of peace, tolerance and bipartisanship, it is time for the Democratic Party to cease its misbegotten love affair with radical Islamists such as Omar and Tlaib and, instead, connect with the many leaders in the reformist Muslim community who, yes, are philo-Semitic and harbor no ill will toward the Jewish state.
