Maksim Yakobzon

Maskim Yakobzon, of Silver Spring, died on Jan. 5. He was 84. Maksim was born in 1937 in Chernovtsy, then in Romania, to Sura and Yosef Yakobzon. He survived World War II by fleeing with his mother to Soviet Central Asia. For most of his career, Maksim worked in the construction and retail businesses.

After moving to the United States close to retirement age, he learned English and continued to work hard to support his family. He was the beloved husband of 62 years to Faina Yakobzon. Devoted father of Shura Vaisman (z”l) and father-in-law of Iosif Vaisman of Bethesda. Cherished grandfather of Asya Vaisman Schulman, grandfather-in-law of Sebastian Schulman and great-grandfather of Tzina Schulman, all of Montreal.
