Marion Frankel Krakow, 95, of blessed memory, passed away Dec. 3. She was born and raised in Washington, D.C., where her parents operated Frankel’s Style Shop. She graduated valedictorian from Central High School in 1938. She was married to Bernard Krakow, of blessed memory, for 33 years. She was sisterhood president of Young Israel Shomrai Emunah Synagogue and was honored by AMIT Women. Her first position was working at Raleigh’s on F Street in the District. She was a member of the Sorority Sigma Pi Sigma.

“Mrs. Krakow, of blessed memory, was a source of inspiration to all who knew her. She was a woman of great piety whose love of God extended to a love and concern for every individual with whom she came in contact,” said Rabbi Dovid Rosenbaum of Young Israel Shomrai Emunah. “She will be sorely missed within our community.”

Rabbi Zev Katz of the Yeshiva High school, said: “One time I went to Rabbi Anemer, z”l, and asked him to be mispalel [one who prays] for a certain choleh [sick person] that needed immediate refuah [healing]. He told me to call Mrs. Krakow, a”h [peace be upon her], and ask her to daven [pray] for this person because ‘she has a direct connection.’ ”

Bernice Cohen, her granddaughter, paid tribute to her at the funeral by comparing her to a rainbow, each color representing a different aspect of her beautiful middot and personality traits. She ended by saying, “Just like a rainbow brings beauty and a ray of colors to our world, bubbe, you have been our ray of light and beauty.” Wendy Penn, her oldest granddaughter, said, “It was a privilege and a real honor be her granddaughter. She was such a blessing in all of our lives.”
