NIH in Bethesda admits Ebola patient

An American healthcare worker who tested positive for Ebola virus while volunteering services in an Ebola treatment unit in Sierra Leone arrived safely at the National Institutes of Health’s Clinical Center early Friday morning.

The patient, who previously had been in serious condition and is now in critical condition, was transferred from Sierra Leone via private charter medevac in isolation. No additional details about the patient are being shared at this time.

The NIH is not releasing information about the patient.

This is the second patient with Ebola to be admitted to the NIH Clinical Center.
