Washington Jewish Week received the first place Simon Rockower Award for Excellence in Photography. The award was presented by American Jewish Press Association at its annual conference on Nov. 14 in Washington.
David Stuck, photographer for Mid-Atlantic Media, publisher of Washington Jewish Week, won the award for his 2015 photo story “Faces of Survival,” for which he photographed 16 local Holocaust survivors who were gathered at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
Unaccompanied by text other than the individual’s name, age and place of birth, Stuck’s photographs allow each person’s face to tell the story of their lives.
