On Jan. 5, Rebecca (Wolman) Weistock of Derwood died peacefully one week shy of her 103rd birthday. Weistock was the second of four children born to Russian immigrant parents. She was married for 54 years to her beloved Sam, who died in 1994. After Sam’s death, she moved from Dunkirk, Md., to Rockville, where she enjoyed activities and contributed to the Jewish Community Center. In her 80s and 90s, she volunteered with special needs children at Luxmanor Elementary School. She is survived by two daughters, Alice Merril (Carl) of Bethesda and Elaine Weistock (Ron) of Jacksonville, Fla. She also leaves four grandchildren; Jonathan (Rita), Gregory (Claire), Nancy (Bruce) and Timothy (Jennifer). Her 10 great-grandchildren include: Veronica, Jon Jon and Matthew Merril, Parker and Paige Merril, Chase and Dakota Jones, and Jacqueline, Jessica and Hunter Davis. Her brother, Avi Wolman (Evi), resides in Israel. Contributions can be made to Sycamore Acres Group Home in Derwood or to the Sam and Rebecca Weistock Endowment at the Jewish Community Center.
