Richard Alan Unger

Richard Alan Unger, of Alexandria, died on June 6. He was 76. Dear husband of Carolyn Unger for 54 years; and loving father of Lori Unger, of Leesburg, and Jeffrey Unger, of Falls Church. Father-in-law of Adam Stewart and Nicole Unger. Grandfather of Sydney Stewart, Zachary Stewart and Jacob Unger. Also surviving are Richard’s mother, Jeanne Van Norman; and Richard’s siblings, Barry Unger, Bruce Unger, Kevin Unger and Lisa Licari. He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Unger. Richard was born in Perth Amboy, N.J., on Feb. 20, 1945. He was the oldest of three brothers and one sister. Richard received his degree in civil engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., where he also met his wife, Carolyn.
