Robert J. Romanoff of North Potomac died peacefully on June 9, after a courageous struggle with cancer. He was born in Washington, D.C., on June 17, 1942, to Melvin and Thelma (Leopold) Romanoff. He was the loving husband of 44 years to Janice (nee Booher); the beloved brother to Ruth (Ron) Dubois; and proud godfather to his nephews Matt and Brian Dubois. He leaves behind his treasured New York and New Haven cousins, his Uncle Sidney and Aunt Frances Romanoff and his four grandnieces. Bob will be fondly remembered by a host of devoted in-laws, neighbors and lifelong friends. Bob graduated from Wheaton High School’s class of 1960, and was an electrical engineering major at the University of Maryland. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. After 38 years, he retired from the NIH computer division in 2001. Since then, he and Jan had many fun-filled activities and many local, domestic, and international trips. Graveside services were held June 12 at Norbeck Memorial Park in Olney. Shiva was observed at his sister’s residence in Olney.
