On March 27, Stephen H. Friedlander. He was a close friend and advisor to the Hebrew Home and larger Charles E. Smith Life Communities for more than 40 years. He was elected to the board of the Hebrew Home in 1983. He was recognized with the Hebrew Home’s highest honor, the Hyman Goldman Award, in 2003. With his wife Arlene, he received the Aunt Minnie Goldsmith Award for outstanding community service in 1995, and the first Guardian Leadership Award in 2007. He helped raised major funds through the annual Guardian Campaign for more than 30 years, supported a capital campaign to renovate the Wasserman Residence and helped secure the largest gift to the Building for Life Campaign. He is survived by his wife Arlene, children Andy and Jillian, and their spouses and children.
