Swastikas were found in Potomac recently. The local cable access channels in the area feature a Holocaust denier. And we all know what Mel Gibson thinks of us.
But wait. They love us, or more accurately, they warmly regard us.
A new survey by the Pew Research Center released today showed that Jews are the most warmly regarded religious group in America. On a scale of 1 to 100, we rated the highest.
When asked to rate various religions on a ‘feeling thermometer’ ranging from zero – nothing good to say at all – to 100 – warm and positive, Jews (who can be so competitive, can’t they?), received a hug and scored a high of 63, according to the Pew study.
Catholics almost beat us, but they missed by a point, finishing second with 62, followed closely by 61 for evangelical Christians.
Apparently just don’t get that warm, fuzzy feeling for Buddhists (53), Mormons (48). Survey participants saved their cold shoulder for Muslims (40).
Let’s savor it while we can. It may not last.
